A little smaller plant than the other type I ordered. Less stems. Soon more stems grew. Continued to grow more through summer. Did well in pot in hot Arizona. Plants arrived in decent condition, although FedEx did an excellent job of TRYING to destroy them. They were left in the middle of my driveway on their sides, some upside down. My plant arrived in a timely manner and was packaged well. There was a single 4ft tall cane in a 3 gallon pot. It looked pretty good when I got it out of the box. The soil was moist and nothing major was damaged during the shipping process. I’m happy with the quality of plant I received. I can’t speak on its hardiness though. I was late bringing the plant in the house and 80% of it died back (I’m 6a). I’m hoping it puts up a new shoot this spring. I saw pictures of a local nursery turned wedding location here in Reno and in the picture they had used bamboo as a hedge. I was really excited to see that bamboo could be used like that and where I live. I did some searching on line and found black bamboo which stood out to me immediately because it is unique looking. I chose Wilson Bro Gardens because they offered this type of bamboo in a large mature size and of course, free shipping is awesome too. When the plants arrived, I was shocked at how big they were. They were also packaged well to make sure they stayed moist during the transport. These bamboo plants took immediately once I planted them. After only two weeks they are already growing new leaves. I ordered two six-foot plants, which arrived in fine shape thanks to careful packing. Roots were well established; stems were crisp and green. This was my first purchase from Wilson Bros. The bamboo arrived quickly and appeared healthy. It was safely packaged (took me a few minutes to figure out best way to extract it without damaging). It came with just two culms, each culm about 5 ft tall. They are young and thin and unable to stand upright without staking. It’s only been two weeks since I planted, so too soon to evaluate fully. I plan to buy more from Wilson if it survives first 6 wks in the ground (in clay). So in summary, a positive first experience with Wilson Bros. Due to the 100 year flowering cycle, which killed black bamboo all over the world starting in 2008 to 2016 and beyond, our crops of black bamboo are a little younger than normal.
