Description
Of all the Solomon’s Seal varieties in our gardens, ‘Jinguji’ is one of if not our favorites. It features upright arching red stems that contrast beautifully with the elliptical green leaves. In summer, the plant is decorated with bell-shaped, green-tipped white flowers that dangle beneath the arching stems. The flowers are followed by blue-black berries in fall that are equally as interesting. Very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained of average fertility and part shade to full shade, and it’s cold hardy to at least -30F. Established plants will tolerate dry shade, which makes it perfect for growing beneath large shade trees. Gradually spreading to form a lovely colony to about 20 inches tall, Jinguji is admired by all who see it in our shade gardens, where it combines beautifully with ferns, astilbes, hosta lilies and other shade loving plants of all kinds.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 18 to 22 inches tall and equally as wide, Jinguji Solomons Seal is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and containers or in groupings in shade and woodland gardens borders. It looks really nice around garden ponds, boulders and combines beautifully with ferns, hosta lilies, heuchera and many other shade loving plants.
Suggested Spacing: 15 to 18 inches apart for groupings; 3 feet or more apart for space between plants
