Description
The latest addition to the Visions Astilbe Series, ‘Visions in Red’ features flowers that start out as deep red buds that open to very bright purplish fuchsia color on tall, feathery plumes. The leaves have red stems and excellent bronze-green foliage. Another great foliage plant when not in bloom. Seed heads add interest to the winter garden.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to about 14 to 18 inches tall and spreading to 18 to 24 inches or more, Visions in Red Astilbe is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and container gardens or in groupings in shady to partially shaded garden beds and borders. A fine addition to cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 20 inches apart for mass plantings
Growing Preferences
Visions in Red Astilbe is very easy to grow in most any average, consistently moist to moist but well-drained soil in part to full shade in zones 7 and 8 and full sun to part shade further north. Though Chinese Astilbes tolerate more sun and heat and will handle short dry periods, they tend to prefer a consistently moist soil, especially during the summer.
