The smooth gray bark and dark red branches add an interesting dimension to the landscape.

Growing upright to 5-8 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide, Zuzu Flowering Cherry is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in sunny landscape borders and garden beds and is a fine addition to a sunny or partially shaded flowering shrub border, pink theme gardens, cottage gardens and cut flower gardens.
Growing Preferences
Zuzu Flowering Cherry is very easy to grow. It is not picky about soil type but prefers a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Good soil drainage is a must. Full sun is preferred however plants will tolerate some light shade. Tolerates urban conditions. Zuzu Flowering Cherry does not require pruning, however, an annual pruning immediately after flowering will encourage growth of new stems for better bloom the following year.

When this plant was delivered in mid-April, it had just passed its blooming season. I missed its flowers but the plant itself looked large and happy. And recently it has a lot of new growth. It seems like I can skip the trip to Kyoto to watch sakura next Spring, since I can watch it from my kitchen window. What a beautiful scene it will be! Hope this shrub won’t fail me.———————————————Thanks for the photo! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review!
